WE RECOMMEND

The Harrison is situated in a conservation area with museums, theatres and high end restaurants . We are a short stroll from Ulster Museum, the Botanic gardens with its Victorian Palmhouse and Tropical Ravine. We are right on the campus of the historic Queens University with the Lanyon building constructed in 1845.

There is no shortage of places to eat and drink with four Michelin restaurants in the immediate vicinity. There’s also plenty of eateries offering both Irish dishes and international delicacies for a casual dining experience before heading out for drinks or to one of the local music venues or theatres.

The Lyric Theatre, the Crescent Arts Center, The Accidental Theatre, Queens Film Theatre (QFT) and No Alibis all offer quality entertainment without having to go into the hustle and bustle of the city center. We are lucky to have some beautiful green spaces nearby to spend some time in nature along the nearby river. Ask us about bike hire and walking and running routes.

BELFAST CITY BREAKS

For a city break with a difference nowhere beats Belfast for a wide range of activities. Known throughout the world for its friendliness and character you will soon feel like a local. Rich in arts and culture, the city has now been awarded UNESCO city of music. It is easy to travel to the Giants Causeway , Strangford Lough and Derry from here.

THEATRE

We are so lucky that The Harrison is so close to four theatres.

The famous Lyric is where Liam Neeson started his career is the closest. Catch Irish produced plays here both old and new

The Opera House is only 15 minutes walk door to door. Here you can see London West End productions and internationally acclaimed musicals and plays.

The Crescent Arts Centre and the new Accidental Theatre have smaller arts events of a wide variety. The Queens Film Theatre shows cutting edge arts movies, runs film festivals and sometimes runs British Film Institute movies and screens National Theatre London plays for local audiences. They even have a little bar in the cinema so you can enjoy a wee gin and tonic during viewing.

MUSEUMS

Nearby, set in the beautiful botanic gardens, is the Ulster Museum. The biggest museum in Northern Ireland boasts an extensive art collection, a history of the troubles exhibition, an Egyptian Mummy, treasures from a Spanish armada ship that sank off the coast and a natural history collection.

WALKING

Near the Harrison we are lucky to have so many green areas to enjoy! We have two beautiful parks which also host concerts and festivals throughout the year.

The winding towpath leads walkers, runners and cyclists through beautiful greenery and wildlife and sometimes forests around the periphery of the city. Lagan meadows is a nature reserve perfect for a picnic on a sunny day.

Cave hill, black and divis mountains are a short drive away and at the peak offer stunning views across Northern Ireland.

BARS + RESTAURANTS

Within walking distance of the hotel, you'll find Shu, The Barking Dog, Molly’s Yard, Holohans, A Peculiar Tea and Deanes at Queens. All offer top dining experiences.

As well as this we have designer pizza place Orto. There are Chinese and Japanese restaurants nearby as well as a range of world food places along Botanic Avenue. Try Vietnamese, Sushi, Falafels, Thai, Greek and Turkish dishes for a more casual experience but still with lots of flavour at small local eateries. Ask at the desk for recomendations

TITANIC

Just a few miles from The Harrison is the Titanic Quarter. Explore the world famous visitor center, the dry dock, the drawing room where the ship was designed and the fascinating waterfront area where you can visit the HMS Caroline, the Nomadic, a lighthouse and many art installations linked with Game of Thrones and local culture.

BOTANIC GARDENS

Botanic Gardens is only 500 meters from The Harrison. It is home to the Victorian Palmhouse, the tropical ravine, the Ulster Museum and acres of beautiful landscaped grounds. Botanic is famous for its magnificent flowers and Chinese garden. It is ideal for a stroll, bike ride or a picnic and just to watch the world go by.
