SCENES FROM JAMES JOYCE’S ‘THE DEAD’

Join us for a lively performance of James Joyce's 'The Dead' at South Bank - a night of Irish literature brought to life!

Greta and Gabriel Conroy have been married for many years. One night at his aunt’s annual Christmas soiree, Gabriel discovers a secret that Gretta has kept from him for many years. His solid world fractures, leaving him riddled with self-doubt, fearful of his future and unsure of his past. Join us in the dark, gaunt house on Usher’s Island as we bring to life the characters from Joyce’s finest short story, ‘The Dead’.

The action takes place over one evening on the 6th January 1904 in the House on Usher’s Island and the Gresham Hotel, Dublin.

Shows at 7.30 pm and 8.45 pm.

Please be aware that this is a ‘promenade’ performance and will involve moving around the hotel and standing for 45 minutes. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before performances begin.

The bar at The Harrison will be open for drinks following the shows.
