THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG

An Anti-Valentine’s Night of Unromantic Poetry & Dark Love Stories

No roses. No choruses. No happy endings.

This is an evening of poetry and storytelling that is determinedly not romantic. These are not declarations of devotion, but explorations of love without illusion.

Featuring Trish Bennett and Colin Urwin—two uncompromising voices examining love’s darker edges.

Trish Bennett, author of Stench (Arlen House), performs poetry that’s not for the faint-hearted. Refusing sentimentality, she assaults us with wit and a refreshing realism about romantic love. Unafraid and bold; loud and clever, this butcher’s daughter has her knives out as she embraces the romanticism of Yeats and says ‘Me Arse’ much as Brendan Kennelly did.

Colin Urwin shares dark Irish love stories and music drawn from tradition and shadow—songs and spoken tales where longing, loss, and obsession sit side by side, and romance is rarely redeemed.

Come alone. Come unpaired. Come uncomplicated for an Anti-Valentines experience.
