About Anthony Trollope

Anthony Trollope (24 April 1815 – 6 December 1882) is best known for his Chronicles of Barsetshire novels. He also wrote on political, social, and gender issues, and other topical matters. Trollope worked for the post service in Belfast and was based at the magnificent building you can still see in Custom House square. He completed his first successful novel The Warden while living in Belfast. Another lesser known fact is that he invented the post box while living here.
