About The Angela Lansbury
Dame Angela Lansbury (1925–2022) was a British-American actress whose career spanned over 80 years across film, television, and stage. Born in London, she relocated to the U.S. in 1940 to escape the Blitz. Her film debut in Gaslight (1944) earned her an Oscar nomination, followed by nominations for The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962).
Lansbury achieved Broadway success with five Tony Awards, including for Mame (1966), Gypsy (1975), and Sweeney Todd (1979) . Her most iconic role was Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote (1984–1996), earning 12 consecutive Emmy nominations . She also voiced Mrs. Potts in Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991).
