About The C.S. Lewis

Clive Staples Lewis (1898–1963), born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was a renowned British writer, scholar, and Christian apologist. Educated at Oxford University, he served as a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Magdalen College, Oxford, before becoming Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University in 1954 .

Lewis is best known for his children's fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia, which has sold millions of copies worldwide. His other notable works include The Screwtape Letters and Mere Christianity, the latter adapted from his BBC radio talks during World War II.

Initially raised in the Church of Ireland, Lewis became an atheist in his youth but returned to Christianity in 1931, influenced by friends like J.R.R. Tolkien. His faith deeply informed his writings and public broadcasts. Lewis passed away in Oxford on November 22, 1963, leaving a lasting legacy in literature and Christian thought.
